Mr. Independant

So for the past week Colby has been waking up at 6:30am- way too early... but how can you be upset at a kid that comes in with a huge smile on his face saying "Hi Mom - Hi Dad" at least 5 times, and climbs up in bed with you. As usual we brought him up in between us to watch cartoons to keep him quite so we could sleep a little bit longer. And of course as usual that lasted about 15 minutes. Then he crawled down and headed down stairs, I figured he'd wake up Jade and then we'd be in the clear for at least another half hour.- Poor Jade, sometimes it stinks being the first child. But a few minutes after he headed down stairs we heard the back door open. (All the windows were open, so you hear everything) We heard him jabber for a second and then we heard the screeching of the patio furniture moving across the concrete. Waking up every neighbor in the process I'm sure. I heard him push his little dump truck around the loop and then it went silent. Nervous Brian jumped up and looked out the window only to find Colby digging in the bark. Then more screeching and again silence. Brian then informed me that I had to see what Colby was doing. It was nothing short of precious. Colby had moved one of the foot stools under the swing to climb up on. He had figured out how to swing by himself. It wasn't the fact that he could swing by himself that was so precious, but the look of pride on his face. He was so happy. I wished that I had a camera near by at that time, which of course I didn't, you never do when you really need one. But fortunately for me, after dinner, Colby - now quite confident in his abilities attempted it again. I saw him swinging from the kitchen window and I knew that if I went out there with a camera the moment would be gone, so I ducted over behind the table and got this video through the window. Pardon the background noise, I was inside, so you hear everyone except Colby. I may be prejudice, but I think he is so cute!!!

Push me Papa

With a house full of family Colby knew exactly who he wanted to come outside and push him on the swing. I don't know if he feels he's been shafted by the rest of us enough to not even bother asking, or if just felt a connection with Papa at the time because they both had hats on, but when he came to the door, all we heard was "Papa mear Papa mear" ("mear" is Colby's "come here") When thier wasn't an immediate response, Colby knew what he had to do. He got right in front of Papa, and while pulling on his fingers, he insisted "Papa push me" I guess he thinks he's got Papa's number. It looks like he might be right too. It was precious to watch my father and my son playing together. I love that my kids have good relationships with their grandparents, and I love that our parents love and care so much for our kids. It's good to know that Families are Forever

Hailey's first soccer game!!

After watching her sisters play soccer for the last few years, Hailey was so excited to be able to play this year. I was actually fairly impressed with how she played too! For our first game we (Karen and I- we're coaching together again) we weren't sure exactly what to expect. Boy were we pleasantly surprised when our girls killed it. We won 11 to 3. Hailey scored two goals and I even caught one of them on video. Hailey is #3 - Check it out.

Hailey really enjoyed playing, which is usually the case when you are winning. Hopefully she will enjoy it throughout the season. It is always so much fun to watch such little people play such a big sport. This should be a fun season to watch! I love the action shots I got. She really went to the ball! I was so proud!

Labor Day Weekend at the lake

So I am starting to think that Labor Day weekend at the lake is now a Silver family tradition. We have been doing it for the last couple of years, and it seems that this is one time where we actually get everyone together. This year Janell and Ryan came out even earlier to be able to spend more time with the family. Jayleen was working for my Dad this summer so she was already at the lake. Since my kids were off track I headed up to the lake as soon as everyone was there, and Brian cam up after work on Friday. The lake was awesome as always, but what made this trip so great was being with family. The only bad part about it all was that after you have so much fun hanging out with everyone, it makes you miss them even more when everyone goes home. Besides lying around sun bathing, playing on the tramp and in the water, the only other thing we really put any effort into was eating, and boy did we eat! We figured out at the end that my Dad had spent over $100. in ice cream alone. We ate it after almost every meal and before some as well. That’s not even counting Dad’s special shakes! The meals we had weren’t bad either. Why is it that every thing tastes better when you’re on vacation? We would stuff ourselves full and then go layout on the deck and watch the kids play and swim. Then it seemed like there was always someone bringing down more food. You couldn’t get away from it. At least we were all miserable together.
